What a magical sight I saw tonight! Unfortunately our digital camera would not catch it. My husband was cutting a log (red oak) and then went back to the location tonight to find that all insides of the bark that had fallen off the log were bioluminescent. Apparently it's a fungus commonly known as foxfire. Also interesting is the fact that this fungus had actually penetrated the wood on the side of the log that had been laying on the ground, leaving a crescent shape at either end where he had cut through.
When we went up to the site, pieces of bark were laying all over the ground - it so reminded me of the film Avatar.
You can find pictures of this on line that are a bit more dramatic - bright green, than ours that just glowed a slightly greenish yellow to almost off white.
Anybody else out there ever see this?
Wendy
I prefer the name 'faerie fire' because it conjures up childhood tales and magick! But what a splendid site to see this phenomenon in the woods on a dark night. I've only seen it once when I was just a wisp of a girl.
This is an entirely different phenomenon, but when I was about 12 yrs old, something happened that I can't explain. I was sitting on the wall over a lake near my house. It was about dusk (or just after) and I was dropping pine needles into the water. When the needles hit the water, they sent out sparks of light. It had never happened before and it never happened again. I tried to reproduce it the next evening, but no sparks.
I have no idea what that was about.
I'm also wondering if anyone else is experiencing this... Lately, (within the past few months), the energy in my breath has become visible to me. A similar thing happened the first time I fasted for a week. I could see the energy coming off the grass, bushes, trees, even the carpet. But since I'm seeing my breath so often these days, I'm wondering if it's a symptom of the Shift. Any clue?
