I just returned from attending the Women's Wellness Conference in Costa Mesa, CA with my wife - three days of speakers with David Wolfe as MC. I must say that I was blown away. Not so much by the speakers, though they were great, but by the overall vibe of the event and the women attending. My wife ended up volunteering to save a little money and had no idea what she was in for. All the volunteers were made to check in to the conference early and briefed. Later when I came down from our room to listen to David Wolfe's first lecture I began to hear music as I approached the auditorium. Now I'm not talking spiritual, new age, calming mumbo-jumbo music here but bass heavy, pumping, up-tempo dance music and when I turned the final corner to enter the room imagine my surprise when I see a bevy of dancing beauties lining the door hooting and hollering and high-fiving everyone as they entered the room. The energy was palpable and it was pure ecstacy and jubilation! I high-fived them on the way in and then looked around the conference auditorium and nearly every woman in the house was up and dancing, and I'm not talking half-assed, but really feeling the music and having a great time dancing. Eight to ten more volunteers were on the raised stage while down the two aisles there were more volunteers lining the chairs. I couldn't help but smile and laugh at the way these women were really lifting the vibration of the room. It must've gone on for twenty minutes. These girls were shaking the house down. I looked around and thought, "Did I come to a conference or a nightclub," with a laugh. And then the thought came to me, "Would this be happening at a men's conference?" Ha, ha - probably not. But it was pure energy and inspiration and one couldn't help but be effected by it. By the time they introduced David Wolfe the energy carrying him up to the stage could've been cut with a knife. Talk about a cheering section.
Overall the conference was very informative with lots of great speakers, and while it was geared toward the women there was still a great wealth of knowledge to be had by the men, and there were a few men to be seen. I would say the best speaker was definitely David Wolfe and he was the reason we went. My wife has been voraciously eating up his youtube videos of late and can't seem to get enough. She's definitely on the physical health side of things while I'm more into the spiritual and occult side of things and together we really balance each other out beautifully. But David Wolfe's energy and humor on stage was nearly as electric as that of the dancing women, and he lectured once or twice a day which was great. For anyone looking for good health, his info on superfoods is excellent. Here's a few video's to get you started if you're unfamiliar with him, but really any of his videos are pretty good:

And this is a great little article about why he's not rich:

He's a wealth of information. Two of the healthiest foods that may not be included in the videos above are the Reishi mushroom and the Chaga mushroom. Do some research on those as they have fantastic healing properties and are the highest in just about everything your body needs. The thing I really like about his info is it just makes sense. We haven't been eating meat now for a few years and we're constantly looking for the best foods to put into our bodies, not to mention some healthy variety. So his smoothie suggestions are fitting in perfectly. At the conference another great speaker was Truth Calkins and he had a tonic bar serving great drinks, soups, chocolate beverages (chocolate - specifically cacao - is one of the healthiest foods on the planet - how great is that!), etc., and we pretty much lived on that the whole weekend along with some very healthy raw foods from Jenny Ross' restaurant called 118 Degrees which was walking distance from the hotel. I mention this because I felt fantastic all weekend long, my energy level remained high and I seemed to have energy to spare. But what really blew me away was the drive home. Usually after a weekend down south the drive home to San Francisco (about seven hours) is fraught with the dangers of falling asleep at the wheel, especially as night falls, along numerous cups of coffee and whatever else I can find to stay awake. This time I felt positively wired, but wired in a really fantastic way, nothing like the temporary caffeine high you get from coffee along with the acidic stomach ache that usually accompanies it. It was like my body just knew to stay alert and awake and I found myself driving the incredibly monotonous 300 miles of never-ending red taillights of straightness that is the 5 Hwy between the California cities with ease and even pleasure, I never even thought of sleep until I made it home where my body just miraculously sailed smoothly off to sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I think I'm sold on this superfood stuff. Right now it is a little expensive to buy the quality products, but he is also a wealth of information when it comes to learning how to find these foods in your own backyard and surrounding countryside, how many of them are common in many environments yet most people are simply unaware of it, and also how to begin growing them yourself. And, like he says, spending your money on superfoods which are the world's best preventative medicines is better than paying that much and more for one day in the hospital.
One thing he mentioned about tobacco I found pretty revealing. Tobacco has been a factor in many of the peoples who have lived the longest on this planet but it was a pure tobacco product and not this chemically laden stuff we get in our cigarettes. In other words tobacco is healthy. What isn't healthy is the 4000 chemicals added to cigarettes. But what blew me away was when he said that the nicotine acts as a dilating agent to the cells of our bodies that then allows for these four thousand chemicals to be injected straight into the soul. A good reason to quit smoking if there ever was one!
