Dear TT Portal members,
I just received this and wanted to pass it on.

Dear Friends,
I'm one of the producers of a documentary entitled FIRE UNDER THE SNOW. The film is about Palden Gyatso, a Tibetan Buddhist monk who was imprisoned and tortured by the Chinese government for 33 years. We had a very successful world premiere last month at the Tribeca Film Festival, where Palden himself participated in Q&A's for all 5 sold-out screenings. We garnered a lot of press attention--CNN International, Reuters TV, NDTV (Indian TV), ABC, NBC, Sirius Satellite Radio, Kyodo News, and we're awaiting word on a possible segment for 60 Minutes on CBS.
In one section of the film, Palden takes part in a hunger strike in front of the Olympic headquarters in Turin, Italy in 2006, protesting the 2008 Beijing Olympics. We are fortunate to have a strong film that is very timely and it is our goal to get the film and Palden’s story seen by as many people as possible this summer. My company, Argot Pictures, can get the film into theaters around the country, but we need help with funding. We are still working on clearing licensing rights for archival footage and music and we're trying to put together a budget for marketing/promotion. All donations are tax deductible through our 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor, Independent Feature Project.
I'm coming out to the Bay Area from May 29-June 8 and am trying to arrange for house party/fundraising screenings of the film while I'm in California. If you or anyone you know might have an interest in hosting an event, please let me know. I'm simply wanting to gather groups of people to show them the film (75 minutes) and discuss in detail what our plans are and see if we can raise some much needed funds to get it out into the world before/during and after the Olympics in Beijing. These screenings could be at a home, community center, church, yoga studio, anywhere people can gather that is equipped with a DVD player and television screen.
You can see more information about the film along with the trailer on our site below.

If you have any ideas, questions, please let me know and thanks in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Jim Browne
