Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Crisis
Last updated on 12/11/13
This page is dedicated to the sharing of information concerning Fukushima, as well as the impact it's having on the environment, wildlife, the food supply, and ultimately, how it effects us. This is a very important topic. I'll update this page as new information is made available. Thank you.
Introduction
The nuclear crisis began on 3/11/11. While many claim that the tsunami is what caused the melt-down, it actually began during the earthquake that preceded it. Unlike Chernobyl, this is not a single melt-down, it is a triple melt-down. The molten fuel, or corium as many call it, melted through containment and into the mud-rock beneath the facility. The corium is still underground and fission is on-going.
A term commonly used to refer to run-away corium is China Syndrome. It originates from a 1979 movie of the same name. The idea is that the corium would burn through the Earth and come out the other side. While the idea in itself is a fantasy, the basic premise is happening. Nobody knows exactly what's going to happen. There are no experts on this because it's never happened before.
With that said, we can dig deeper into this. Lets start with the impact on the environment.
Environment
The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear crisis is, by far, the worst industrial accident of all time. It makes other industrial accidents, such as the Chernobyl melt-down or the BP oil spill, look tame in comparison.
While our planet is mostly protected from cosmic radiation, there is no way for it to defend against it when it originates here. Nature may be a self-cleaning system, but it has no way to remedy this. The contamination is simply a part of the environment now, and will remain here long after human extinction.
“The half-life of plutonium is 24,400 years, so it can cause medical diseases for at least the next 250,000 years, inducing cancers, congenital deformities and genetic diseases for virtually the rest of time. All plants and animals develop cancer and genetic abnormalities.”
-Helen Caldicott, MD; The Medical Implications of Fukushima
While the disaster may be in Japan, this is a global crisis of epic proportion. Just because you don't live in Japan doesn't mean you're safe. The wind blew much of the fall-out west, reaching the west coast of the United States in less than half a week, and the east coast about a day after that. It only took a few hundred days for the odorless and invisible death plume to circle the entire globe. The jet-stream travels fast. The ocean currents also travel quickly.
Here are a some links to illustrate how wide-spread this catastrophe is.

Wildlife
Before we talk about the impact the disaster is having on wildlife, it's important to understand what bio-accumulation and bio-magnification are.
As fish swim through contaminated water, they become increasingly contaminated -- it accumulates within the fish -- this is called bio-accumulation.
When a fish feeds on contaminated food, it also becomes increasingly contaminated. Then, when a bigger fish eats that fish, that fish becomes more contaminated, as so on. The contamination magnifies as it rises through the food chain. This is bio-magnification.
Remember, not only are fish swimming through contaminated water, they are also eating contaminated food. Bio-accumulation and bio-magnification work together, compounding the effect.
While the examples I used are of fish, bio-accumulation and bio-magnification are relevant to all life-forms and the food-chain in general.
With this said, lets take a look at what's been happening to wildlife, specifically marine life, since the disaster began.

There are more I haven't included, and certainly more to come. These aren't out-liars either, these are epidemics. It seems every few weeks now there is a new epidemic involving marine life in the Pacific.
While not all of these have been tied to Fukushima, though many are, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that the truly astronomical amount of radiation being continuously poured into the ocean could possibly be related, especially considering how none of this happened before 3/11, and now, it's all happening at once. Nobody knows exactly how this effects the fragile marine eco-systems -- it's uncharted territory. Also, it's worth noting that radiation damages the immune system, which makes it harder to fight off infections and disease.
Radiation also causes birth defects. Here are some relevant examples, as well as articles about radiation-induced mutation in general. I have not included links that show birth defects in Chernobyl children, nor those caused by U.S. depleted uranium use in the Middle East, as they are quite graphic and disturbing. There are many resources available online if you are interested in researching that.

“In summary, the radioactive contamination and fallout from nuclear power plant accidents will have medical ramifications that will never cease because the food will continue to concentrate the radioactive elements for hundreds to thousands of years inducing epidemics of cancer, leukemia, congenital abnormalities and genetic disease, because damaged genes will be passed over many generations.
Already we are seeing such pathology and abnormalities in birds and insects, and because they reproduce very fast it is possible to observe disease caused by radiation over many generations within a relatively short space of time.”
-Helen Caldicott, MD; The Medical Implications of Fukushima
It hasn't even been 3 years since the disaster began, and it will continue for, as Caldicott says, virtually the end of time.
I think this would be a good time to talk about the food supply.
Food Supply
It should go without saying that you should avoid Pacific sea-food from now on. This chapter is going to focus on other food items.
Unfortunately, very little testing is being done as far as the contamination of food. It's very concerning, to be sure. I'll add to this list as more information comes out.
Milk:

Kyodo: Baby food maker ignored info on cesium contamination for weeks — Initially concluded “further investigation was unnecessary”
Mushrooms are fungi, and fungi love radiation. Fungus is, as far as I know, the only life-form which thrives on it. With that said, I don't recommend eating them anymore.
Medical
If you're interested in researching the specific effects of each radionuclide on the human body, such as how strontium-90 causes bone cancer and iodine-131 cause thyroid cancer, then there are many other resources on the internet you can use. This chapter isn't going to focus on that, as the health effects are already well-known and documented.

The focus here, as you can see, is on the cover-up, which brings us to the source of the cover-up...
Politics
Perhaps tyranny would be a better word than politics...

Meanwhile, soil samples in Tokyo were found to be contaminated enough to be considered nuclear waste. This soil study was conducted over a year ago.
Gundersen: Tokyo soil so hot it should be sent to nuclear waste dump — Really severe releases hit city
Tokyo has not been evacuated. This is because the Japanese government apparently has no interest in the well-being of its people. This has been proven again and again, they've been caught in scandal after scandal concerning the nuclear disaster and the handling of it thereafter, as has TEPCO, the company originally operating the power plant.
Some of the many TEPCO scandals:

As radiation levels rise, the Japanese government simply raises the "safety limits."
Before Fukushima: 100 Bq/kg of cesium is nuclear waste — After: 100 Bq/kg of cesium is safe to eat
The U.S. government is no better. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), with Obama's permission, quietly and dramatically raised the "safety limits" (PAGs) of nuclear radiation, including in the drinking water. There is no safe level of exposure to nuclear fall-out. According to their own numbers, where the "safety limits" are at now, will allow a cancer rate of 1 in 23. There is nothing safe about that.
Obama Approves Raising Permissible Levels of Nuclear Radiation in Drinking Water. Civilian Cancer Deaths Expected to Skyrocket
Obama has also publicly claimed that the radiation will be harmless, but is it?
West Coast officials, Obama: Don't worry about radiation risk in U.S.
How about you decide for yourself. Make your own decisions instead of letting some guy, who receives money from the nuclear industry, tell you what to think. Do some research. I know this information isn't exactly fun to read, but it is better to be informed and make informed decisions than it is to be unprepared.
Many people, when they finally realize what's happening, are going to be extremely resentful that they weren't told sooner, or really even at all. Well, we're trying. It's not easy when various governments, media outlets, and the nuclear industry are all colluding together in order to cover everything up, just like the Soviets did with Chernobyl. All these psychopaths care about is the economy and maintaining the status quo, regardless of how many millions of innocents die.

This cover-up is the most heinous crime in the history of history. It makes the Nazis look like school-yard bullies.
This is more than a crime against humanity. It's a crime against every living being on this planet. This is random mass murder on such a scale, that nobody is safe, not even your great great great grand-children, if your lineage even makes it that far.
Can we really trust these corrupt institutions and corporations to be responsible with such dangerous technology? Again and again, it's been proven, no -- not at all.
Take a look at what Hans Blix, former head of the IAEA, said.
Hans Blix, former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, charged with the promotion of nuclear energy, stated after the Chernobyl meltdown became public that “the atomic industry can take catastrophes like Chernobyl every year”.
Really? A Chernobyl every year is acceptable?
Death toll estimate from Chernobyl now around 1.5 Million -Expert (VIDEO)
3 million children require treatment because of Chernobyl, many will die prematurely -U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan in 2000
Apparently, mass murder is acceptable to these people.
Well, the only reason the U.S. developed nuclear technology in the first place was to mass murder as effectively as possible. Why do we need to do that again?
Activism
Nuclear technology is becoming less and less popular, and for good reason -- we simply don't need it. The U.S., for example, only gets 9% of its power using nuclear plants. Considering how dangerous they are, how inefficient they are, and how expensive they are, why use them at all?
We use them because the government wants to build bombs -- that's why -- it really is the only reason.
From what I've heard, the Japanese government wants to build nuclear bombs, too. There are rumors going around that the they were using the Fukushima plant to build them, using plutonium the U.S. illegally gave them. I can't say whether it's true or not, but I can say it makes a lot of sense. It would explain why Fukushima has such an excessive inventory, and also explains why both the Japanese and U.S. governments are going to such great lengths to cover-up this disaster. The Japanese people are extremely against nuclear weaponry. If you can't guess, it's because of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. Also, if it was discovered that they were making bombs using U.S. plutonium, it would look very bad for the United States as well, especially considering how their justification for invading numerous Middle Eastern countries was to prevent them from having WMDs.
But anyway, something that you should definitely know, is that if an intense x-class solar flare takes down the electrical grid, as it did in the Carrington Event in 1859, every single nuclear plant on the planet will melt-down and, well, lets just say Mars would soon have a twin. It's inevitable that such a solar storm will happen eventually, but nobody can predict when.
Anytime somebody says we need nuclear technology, what they're really saying is that they're willing to sacrifice the future of the planet for the sake of momentary convenience. It doesn't get more selfish than that.
Either nuclear ends, or we do. It's really that simple. It's not an opinion, it's a fact.
Thanks for your time,
Brad Karr.
