I wish I never found articles like this one just before going to bed at night! According to the Pentagon, the Internet should be considered an "enemy weapons system." The Department of Offense is blunt about its concerns. Particularly worrying to them is the unfettered spread of ideas - what you and I know as freedom of speech. Apparently their plan is for the current web to "gracefully" degrade, to be replaced with "Internet 2," which will be controlled and censored á la The People's Republic of China. The Internet is a wonderful tool, and I have said for a long time that one day it will be taken away from us. I always figured it would be when the power grid fails - which it will. If our government by, of and for the people has its way, it will come sooner than that.
