I hope I'm not jumping to conclusions or being alarmist here but is google video pulling all it's uploaded video content on April 29, 2011? I went to connect to a video and it gave this little disclaimer:

Does this look like something we should be concerned about?
Did Google purchase You Tube perhaps? That's what it sounds like to me:
"You can upload your videos in FLV format to other video hosting sites like YouTube or Picassa Web Album"
Sounds like Google Video is toast to me from this message!
I liked Google Video because they could host full length videos (like movies etc)without having them cut up into short 10 min sections-an extreeeemely annoying issue with Most YouTube versions of movies.I will miss it...
A suggestion: If there are anybody's videos on Google Video you want to save from off their site before they're gone, use the free NetVideoHunter app. It's free and all you do is start a video playing and THEN start NetvideoHunter to start recording it from the bottom bar in your browser. Easy as pie.
Then you can download free GOM PLAYER software that will playback about anything-also nice...
Peace
I've noticed a number of videos disappearing from Youtube, with increasing frequency. I've wondered the same thing.
As for Google, I just heard that Google Books has been prohibited from copying anymore books onto their website. Maybe their videos are being sensored as well?
I found this note from Google: http://googlevideo.blogspot.com/2009/01/turning-down-uploads-at-google-video.html (Note: the date is 2009)

Aren't they just saying that they are getting out of the hosting business but they will keep, honour, any video's they currently have?......l would imagine the servers to host all those vid's and books would be expensive, it just sounds like it hasn't been a winner for them.

Thanks for the heads up. I noticed if you go to make a comment on that page you get to see comments that others have left.
Brian, I'm giong to attempt to post your advice - many are complaining that google video has not actually included a download button as they said they would.
Oops- I can't seem to be able to sign in to my google account - hopefully someone else can do this?
