Nice that LED's don't cause cancer either like the microwave end of the radio wave spectrum that cell phones use. I have a hard time trusting these TED presentations as they never mention anything controversial like that and this presentation would have been the perfect oportunity to talk about increased brain cancer due to current technology cell phone use.
I couldn't get the embedded video to play, so here's the link in case you're having the same problem: http://www.ted.com/talks/harald_haas_wireless_data_from_every_light_bulb.html I can see the potential for this technology to be used for good, but it could also be abused in the wrong hands.
For Wendy: Some TED topics do cover controversial issues, like these talks on war: http://www.ted.com/search?q=war BTW, anyone can host a TED conference. There are guidelines, but I'd imagine you'd have some freedom in choosing your speakers and/or topics.
