i could of used one of those a few times..there was also a 1920's ford tractor that had a little booster motor that burned water ! yah ! It was just a power booster, but could of just as easily been the engine. I have read that the combustion engine wasn't originally designed to have exhaust. It was a closed loop, reusing whatever it ran on over and over,,,sounds like ford did have some better ideas after all,,,they just never gave them to us ! thanx for the great video Wendy
Ingenious! What an incredibly practical and FUN way to get around in the snow. With so much to love about it, where is the Fordson now?
Wikipedia gives us a bit of history on screw-powered vehicles. https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Screw-propelled_vehicle They eventually evolved into tanks in WWII and amphibious vehicles during the Vietnam War.
"Little is known about the company or the fate of the product. It is rumoured that Henry Ford bought out the patent and buried the project."
Why am I not surprised?
If this year is like last year in Mass. I could sure use one of these. I just think it's great the way the entire ad is focused on the practical reasons to want one of these. No trying to make the product sexy, no envious people looking at the guy on the tractor, just the facts. I think it highlights the way television ads have done a HUGE disservice to our culture in promoting envy amoung people.
