I found this article well worth the read. It was so inspiring that I listened to the video as well but I was disappointed that his testimony was interrupted so the read is actually better.
Oil Executive son's testimony
The Gathering Spot is a PEERS empowerment website
"Dedicated to the greatest good of all who share our beautiful world"
profound and on the mark. He summed up the problem:
Based on my experience, what I learned was that the global system of infinite growth attracts men and woman of a certain… level of understanding, a certain type of person who will be attracted to the ideals of the current economic measurement that coordinates the global psychology of things, and a type of person who externalizes themselves and detaches from connection, and so whole-heartedly believes in their reality, their perception of things, that they project their fears out onto everyone else -- and their ego becomes the driver, blindly leading them down a path of self-destruction. And they are people of high intellectual prowess, but unfortunately have yet to develop the deep wisdom that we all possess within us as human beings.
And we call these people CEO, and Prime Minister . . . you simply cannot infinitely grow, within a finite system of resources -- period.
And then offers the solution:
In closing, it’s time now for a full scale, mass mobilized transition process off the fossil fuel economy. We need to use all of our resources we have left wisely to create a whole new system of operation that is global in scale. This process needs to have the mobilization power comparable to the proportions of the Manhattan project, and then some. It’s time for us to journey into a new dream, a new way, with new design and new fundamental principles. It’s time for us to end a millennium of pain, suffering, shame and unconsciousness. It’s time to create resilient, sustainable and flourishing communities, that have the adaptive capacity to respond to any challenges they may face in their external environment -- and be able to effectively respond specifically to the coming age of peak oil, climate change and rampant global economic instability.
It’s time for us to dismantle the institutions that are beginning to imprison us. It’s time for us to un-learn, to remove the power structures, and to decentralize the grid so that individual communities can produce their own food, energy and own internal means of production for hundreds to thousands of years to come.
And ultimately, it’s time for us to become the true masters we are meant to become -- true, planetary mastery -- in balance with the emotional, cultural, spiritual and psychological well-being of every inhabitant. It’s time for us to embrace the new consciousness that is emerging at this time, where by busting open the hearts and minds of our people, we will propel ourselves forward into a new golden age of humanity that is imminently upon us.
And all this from the son of an oil executive! Great find Wendy, thank you. Very inspiring.
Really puts things into perspective. Kinda goes along with my fracking meeting from last night. I can see exactly what he is talking about after listening to the industry spokespeople from last night. They aren't bad people and think they are just doing their best. But the best point from last night that I really think was glossed over was a gentleman from the opposition said (paraphrasing) - this industry is a non-renewable energy with a finite amount of energy that can be produced so rather than keep pumping money into the industry to develop fracturing methods and drill sites, take the money and invest in renewable energy sources NOW, dont wait until the fossil fuels are all gone. Really thought he made a great point that people really didn't seem to respond to either way.
Awesomely inspiring piece, Wendy! Thanks so much for sharing it. I will pass it on. Take care and have a beautiful day and weekend ahead.
With abundant love and joy,
Fred

Hi Todd-
How'd things go the other night? You gonna have clean water still?
Wendy
Thanks so much. I read it out loud to my partner and we both wept and at the craziness of our world.
The internet including the gathering spot, is having such a wonderful mobilising effect. More and more news like this comes our way. So, fortunately so many people are able to understand what's going on and build from our hearts and minds a better future. Picture it, our world in balance, humanity understanding deeply that endless growth is impossible, but sustainability is. We don't need so much stuff, since happiness comes from the heart not from belongings or shopping or travel.
Those oil baron types can get their kicks from developing sustainable power sources, like that massive solar array in the Sahara, to provide electricity for Europe and North Africa. Like every building having to be carbon neutral etc etc, like the man said, we can do it. We have the technology, the knowledge, and, I like to believe, the wisdom is increasing rapidly enough. We can all hold that and project it with love, and build a world in balance, from our spot outwards.
Hi Wendy,
It was a bit frustrating but understandable how they ran the meeting. You had to submit your answers in writing before the meeting and at the first break but the industry people let their top speaker go last and she raised all kind of questions for me that I couldn't ask due to the format. The audience wasn't allowed to speak although I wanted to yell out a few times but refrained due to the rules. The bottom line is, it's going to happen because they talk so much money and the farmers around here are older and see $$$ and retirement rather than having to work and struggle the rest of their lives. Unfortunately they don't look at the long term affects on things. They just see the money. It's scary. Real scary! But I plan to join the movement to see what I can do to help fight it. It's not over yet!
Thanks for asking!
Todd
Hi Todd-
Hope you'll keep us posted and request help if there's any actions we can take as a group to help keep your water clean.
