Carnation Milk

Carnation Milk

A little old lady from Wisconsin had worked in and around her family dairy farms since she was old enough to walk, with hours of hard work and little compensation.

When canned Carnation Milk became available in grocery stores in the 1940s, she read an advertisement offering $5,000 for the best slogan.

The producers wanted a rhyme beginning with 'Carnation Milk is best of all.'

She thought to herself, I know everything there is to know about milk and dairy farms.

I can do this!

She sent in her entry, and several weeks later, a black car pulled up in front of her house.

A large man got out, knocked on her door and said, "Ma'am,.....The president of Carnation milk absolutely LOVED your entry.....So much, in fact, that we are here to award you $1,000 even though we will not be able to use it for our advertisements!"

He did, however, have one printed up to hang on his office wall.

True story!!!

If that was a graphic you tried to post, it didn't come through, John.  I'm guessing that the following is similar to what you had in mind.  I found these on Snopes.  http://www.snopes.com/business/deals/carnation.asp

Carnation milk is best of all; no teats to pull, no poop to haul.  Got no nasty tail to switch; just poke a hole in the son-of-a-bitch!

Summer, winter, spring or fall, Carnation milk is best of all; no tits to pull, no tails to switch, just punch a hole in the son of a bitch!

Carnation milk is best of all, comes in cans both short and tall:  No tits to pull, no hay to pitch; just punch two holes in the son-of-a-bitch.

Carnation Milk is best in the land; it comes in a little red-and-white can.  No tits to pull, no hay to pitch; just poke a hole in the son-of-a-bitch.

Carnation milk is the best in the land; here I sit with a can in my hand - No tits to pull, no hay to pitch, You just punch a hole in the son of a bitch.

Apparently, this is an old joke with similar versions passed down over time.  Funny that we're still buying the stuff long after the cow-tending issue is long gone.

I've had similar things happen to images I've posted here, John.  In my case, I could see them in edit mode, but was unable to see them in the regular post view.  I have not found a solution for this.

I suggest that if the image is from a webpage, that you post the link to the webpage and give us instructions where to find the image, if need be.

Hi John,

I use a site called photobucket, it's free. I upload images there and then link to them, seems to work everytime :)
