Did anyone besides me wonder how they got all those, "This facility closed due to government shutdown," signs made and distributed far and wide, including to all the national parks and cemeteries overseas only eight to ten hours after the government shut down? Take a look at this from someone who wanted to remain anonymous.
" I have worked in the government on and off for 40 years. During that time I became quite familiar with requisitions, bidding, awarding contracts etc. It is a time consuming process with bean-counters and pencil-necked bureaucrats every of the way. The simplest request takes months not days or hours.
In less than 8 hours of the shutdown, miraculously, professionally printed 3X4 foot signs appeared all over the country in the tens of thousands saying-“this [park, facility, etc. with custom logos] closed due to government shutdown. There has not been a government shutdown in 17 years.
These signs were designed, specifications were determined, signs were then requisitioned, bids were posted and vetted, government contracts were awarded. The materials were then ordered and the signs manufactured then distributed U.S. Mails or however.
This shutdown was orchestrated and planned well in advance at least 6-8 months ago. Millions of tax dollars were appropriated and spent in this process. There is a paper trail a mile long leading directly to the White House."

Interesting, eh?
One correspondent commented, "Kind of like how the patriot act was pulled out of thin air."
104 current Congressional Republicans who voted to increase debt ceiling under Bush - without hostage threats

Could these people be any more blatantly hypocritical?
Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) reiterated on Sunday that House Republicans would not allow a clean vote to raise the debt limit and ensure the full faith and credit of the United States of America. But while now Congressional Republicans demand everything from the destruction of the Affordable Care Act to a constitutional amendment in exchange for allowing the government to pay for what it has already incurred, many of them made no such demands nine years ago when a Republican was in the White House.
Boehner says that Congressional Republicans "are not going to pass a clean debt limit increase" because "it is time to deal with America's problems." But in 2004, he joined with 205 other House Republicans to pass S. 2986, a bill that added $800 billion to the nation's statutory debt ceiling with no strings attached.
Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), in encouraging his House colleagues to back the bill said:
Brady, Boehner, House Republican Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), and 84 other House Republicans who are still serving in Congress today voted for the bill (10 of whom are now Senators).
In the Senate, 50 Republicans - 17 of whom are still serving today - voted for the identical bill. Among them was Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who explained the bill was "necessary to preserve the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government." He observed that "without an increase in the debt limit, our Government will face a choice between breaking the law by exceeding the statutory debt limit, or breaking faith with the public by defaulting on our debt. Neither choice is acceptable."
In total, Congressional Republican leaders backed five separate debt ceiling increases during Bush's eight years in the White House. The still-serving Republicans heeding President George W. Bush's call for a clean debt limit increase in 2004 were:
Regarding your first post, that's an interesting observation. I think the truth behind these seemingly unplanned events is becoming increasingly obvious, like the newscast announcement that Building 7 had toppled before it actually happened.
As to the second post, the article sounds to me like more partisan finger-pointing to distract our attention away from the fact that it's really only the same "man behind the curtain" regardless of who is sitting in the Oval Office.
Wanna hear another interesting fact? Signups for Sugar Daddy dating sites have increased by as much as 50% since the shutdown. This may be attributed to the millions of single moms whose WIC and foodstamp benefits have been suddenly cut. http://washington.cbslocal.com/2013/10/07/sugar-daddy-dating-sites-say-government-shutdown-a-huge-boost-to-sign-ups/
I am trying hard to understand the implications of this shutdown. Does it mean all Gov. departments are closed. I'm guessing necessary depts like the benefit offices are still paying out to the needy and elderly. Can someone please enlighten me ............
Apparently things are really heating up in DC. Veterans may be deprived of benefits as of the first and are protesting outside white house and also at WWII memorial. PrisonPlanet.com has many articles up on their front page. There is also a story about some welfare cards not working but they claim that is due to a computer glitch. Welfare is generally a state by state run operation and I beleive social security has a seperate fund so that shouldn't be affected.
I think the non-payment of veteran's benefits will mean many protests will be coming - maybe this is what the FEMA amunition build-ups were all about.
