Electric cars make me happy

I am so excited by how many electrics are being created. A year or two ago I thought they would never arrive. There are so many now! I say a blessing for those brave early business execs who stuck their naked necks out! Thanks y'all!

Def check out the web page and see lot's of EV videos and ads. Below is one video from that bunch...(Yup- a big truck)

Now all we have to do is fire our electrical power plants from something besides coal, oil, gas, or nuclear energy and we'll be all set.

Oh, and there's that pesky little problem of safely disposing the toxic battery.

Multiply this by 2 million or more drivers.

Still need to work out a few issues before I'm on board.

but I don't believe it's worth it ,,,especially with the cost, and raw materials involved with the designs on the market. In china, electric bikes and scooters are dominant. If you are walking a city street, and everything is electric, it is quiet in the city, but I have only experienced this in one smaller city of about one and a half million. I have to say, the electric bikes range from old Mopeds to really nice full size scooters. Many people use them as taxis , and they are fast, quiet, and efficient. gasoline powered scooters are against the law in china, but many still ride them. People buy illegal plates for them and ride them anyways. In some cities, cops will stakeout a big intersection,,,if they stop you on a gas scooter, they take it,,,that's it,,,it's confiscated, but most people get away with driving them around. It's kind of ironic that they are encouraging the sale of autos(no doubt to drive the economy) with no pollution controls. The fact is, if everyone bought a car in china, there would be nowhere to put them, there just isn't room on the roads for them,,,it is useless to try and drive in many cities already.

So,if you buy a gas powered car here, you're feeding the problem,,,,but,if the government here pushed electric cars, I can't even imagine how much precious raw materials would be wasted, just on the batteries alone,,,the numbers are staggering. I heard that they found a lake in China with a lithium vein beneath it, so that's it for that lake,,,they will dry it up and mine it out. Lithium is so hard to find, designers know it isn't a sustainable industry, but they will use it until it's gone.....

There has to be another way. They won't develop and market hydrogen add-ons for cars because then they can't sell us fuel, but Obama could of been a hero his first year in office if he had forced sickly GM to develop them, then give everyone driving a year to have one installed(tax deductible). Mine worked very well, and it was just a fraction of what could be if there was some money and development behind it. Imagine cutting our fuel consumption in half in a year's time! Makes too much sense right? Brazil went almost completely to ethanol in a year with a similar program (not that ethanol is an answer). It is a real example of what can be done to initiate some change from the government, but probably never will.

I am all for the quiet in the cities, and the better air that electric promise, and I think that once they learn to convert it "on the fly", as these hydrogen units do, we can make a real step up..

I think there's disinformation getting the rounds these days. Read this:What Happens to EV and Hybrid Batteries? For instance: lithium can be safely buried in landfills but no one wants that. Instead it can be 90 percent recycled with current recycling centers already built. And it's already cheap so recycling will reduce mining and reduce costs. We will be eliminating foreign sources over time by recycling too.

That truck pictured above? Fuel Cost for 150,000 mile lifetime?
gasoline $25,000
electric $3000.

Electricity generation is far far more efficient than burning petrol in your car. Way less pollution too. I can't wait to be able to drive past every single stinking gas station-can you?

EV's recharge for about $1 usually overnight.

Remember that we're hyper aware of the problems of electrics but ultra numb to the problems of burning gasoline and even the probs from motor oil and many other waste fluids from gas motors we have taken for granted. BTW, maintenance costs for EV's are tiny too.

Carrying around the weight of gasoline and a motor is far heavier than the weight of the batteries making electric vehicles far more efficient so I'm glad they are coming out. My problem is the distance between charges - I'm still waiting to see them make a car I can travel to Vt and back in on 1 charge.

They burn coal in the midwest to create electricity how can that be good . At least here on the west coast where I moved about 4 years ago they use the rivers which still is not all good because of the salmon and steel head in the rivers . Coal pollutes more than anything else almost . How come we don't go with hydrogen and power cars with salt water . No pollution is the key . Or start riding bicycles and horses again . Just saying this  to change our thinking a little bit open some minds to this .  A Japanese gentlemen invented this and it has been shoved under the rug.

  Love you all , Eric

I have read several times that burning fossil fuels to generate electricity for cars is far less polluting than carrying and burning them in the car itelf.

There is a large economy of scale in both pollutants and cost. We use nuclear and coal and now gas here. They have started building solar farms here too.

"That truck pictured above? Fuel Cost for 150,000 mile lifetime?

How about that  $22,000 you got in savings? Even if it polluted the same amount that would be awesome

I am going to do some research here .  One thing I do know coal is bad to burn for a number of reasons . It is one of the more destructive fossil fuels  . The term fossil fuel raises questions with me.

Why not strive for zero pollution instead of the lesser of two evils?

It is obvious that electric cars would be a step up, but,,,to me,,,this is another part of the game,,,a new market. It is like starting all over again. If everyone eventually buys an electric car,,,,then they have sold us all a new car,,,,this is BS! It's another example of them giving us a little piece of what is possible,,,,when they could give us a lot more. And you can bet that they will release little advances as the market grows, so  people will want to upgrade. It's just like adding another feature on the smartphones every year,,, so they can sell us another one,,,,when they could stop using microwaves altogether and really do some good. Yes,,,it will spur the economy that serves them, not us, and help keep business as usual.

I am for doing just about anything that lessens fossil fuel consumption, but not at the cost of the enormous amount of raw materials it will take to build millions and millions of new cars,,,,when those materials could be used for real change,,,not just a baby step like this. I doubt seriously that there is any 22,ooo dollar savings on any electric car. Just ask someone with a Prius who has had it long enough to have to replace the batteries. I know a few people who love them until that comes up,,,then they sit in the driveway for a long time. I also love the quiet that comes with electric vehicles, as I mentioned earlier in this post. There are hundreds of thousands of electric bikes and scooters in China,,,they even still have the gopeds like we used to have in America.  It is so cool to be in a city with almost all electric vehicles,,,so quiet,,,but I still don't buy it. Electric batteries are a huge item here,,,,stolen ones that is! In Taos,,I knew a guy that built custom electric cars. The battery weight was huge,,,and they would distribute it out under the floor to give the cars stability. But,,,the coolest thing he built was an electric dirt bike. Nothing could keep up with it in the mountains, you could stop on the side of a steep embankment,,,,then nail it,,,and it would just take off,,,no spinning the tires,,,it just,,,,went! Try that on a dirt bike! Soooo,,,don't think I don't see the benefits of them,,,,It's the big picture that spoils the idea for me. We could cut our fuel bills in half with those silly hydrogen add-ons,,,,without wasting trillions of dollars of raw materials building a whole new fleet of cars, giving us time to take a real step that is worth committting to.Problem there is,,,no money in it,,,,so,,,even though we were promised it by "you knowwho" before he was elected,,,,his newly appointed energy director, the Asian guy,,,Chu I think,,,,shot it down weeks after O was elected. He said,,,"we can't have people driving around with hydrogen in their cars,,,that would be dangerous!" haha! but,,,they haven't minded us driving around with 20 gallons of petro for the last hundred years. Plus,,hydrogen can be made on demand anyways, so there is no tank of fuel to  carry around. Once again, the issue of money comes up, as they wouldn't have any fuel to sell us.It's pretty obvious who stepped in there! Would I buy an electric bike? Probably...I even looked into importing them to America,,to try and sell them in New Orleans,,,a great city for them,,,but it appears there are import laws set up to prevent that from happening. Heck,,,,that would make too much sense!

That is how I address it at this level,,,left brained , I guess you would call it.....On a deeper level,,,it's much simpler....

Take the old example/comparison between a chemical explosion and a nuclear explosion. A nuclear explosion is a million times more powerful, as it takes place close to the planck scale,,,subatomically. This electric power,,,,and of course the fossil fuels we've been using are still up there at the surface level, with the chemical explosion. Ufo technology,,,mag trains, energy from the void, these come from that area closer to the planck scale, and can exist in harmony with the physics of our planet, instead of destroying it. So,,,if you look at it from closer to the planck sscale,,,instead of on the surface level,,,or superficial level,,,,there is no debate.

I believe it was Nassim Haremein, speaking to a big group of physicists, who said, " all of our technology is based on blowing shit up!, or inother words,,,on the expansion theory of the universe". All we have to do is look at the other sideof tht,,,,the contraction, and the answers will fall in our laps.

You all are awesome. Making me think about it. I have to agree Tscout that we can do better and I have to wonder if electric cars suckling at the the grid is a trap to stall the push for free energy......but-electrics can harness the output of yr free energy generator when you get it. I guess yr gas car won't so...?Better? Hydrogen is being stalled by holding up free energy generators(it takes a bit of electricity to split it). A free energy electric source will split off the hydrogen in water in yr tank so you can drive on water for fuel. I suspect Andrea Rossi's E-cat in the trunk (a tiny one) would suffice.

I understand efforts are being made to entrap all nations under UN Agenda21 before free energy can transform everything.

all you need is an extra wire off of your standard car battery to make more than enough hydrogento run your car. The trick is to make a quality grade hydrogen . The add-ons use high grade stainless steel plates. But,,most of the add-ons,when I was shopping, never mention that you need to lie to the computer of the car, or,,the unit just won't do you much good. As your exhaust turns to water vapor, your oxygen sensor tells your car's computer that your not polluting enough. The computer, in turn, sends more gas to be burned, and you end up with more of a problem than you started with. I had to add a little device to lie to the computer, it was adjustable, and was put inline on the wire from the oxygen sensor to  the computer. Then,,I found another device that changes the electricity coming from your battery to apulse, which makes a huge difference. The frequency of pulse you send to the unit determines what grade of hydrogen you will produce. That is key. Unfortunately, when these devices flooded the internet, during the "gas crisis", there was little info to go with them, so many people had little or no results with them. There was a 10 year lawsuit against the car makers to give up the schematics of their car computers. They had kept them secrets for many years. Supposedly, they lost the lawsuit about 3years ago. This would make it easy to maximize hydrogen use, as a mechanic could easily adjust the settings on the computer to fit the units, eliminating the need for all those devices, and the unit could easily work with the car, instead of "hiding" from it. You could program it to use half gas, halfwater,,,whatever you want. Mechanics who have built these cars say that you just need to up the compression at least one point, and you can probably burn all water...

Just imagine how good they could work if the car companies were actually trying to build  them, insteadof making up excuses why they can"t!!

I just posted a pdf about cellphone poisoning.  In it the author, Lynn Quiring, offers some solutions for reducing radiation.  Here is one of them:

15. Use a gaussmeter to measure the electrical field inside electrically-powered automobiles. Large electrical cables often run directly under the driver’s seat.
