I was just having a very thought provoking conversation with a co-worker, and I thought I would continue it here. We are all born with basic needs, and until these needs are clearly met, we are automatically in a state of survival mode. We need food, sheltor, etc. and I believe we are supossed to seek at least semi perminate means of meeting our needs. The way this society is set up, we are constantly in that state of survival. We are the only animal on earth that continually PAYS just to survive. Where I come from we start over month meeting our basic needs MONTHLY, for some WEEKLY. We our constantly worried about our sheltor because of the never ending bills. We are constantly worried about our food and feeding our children because every dime of what we earn goes to pay these bills. We are constantly in survival mode. That is probably why this society is so stressed and damaged. We have never settled down to see that we do not have to work super hard and seek PEACE, we can HAVE peace. We can HAVE happiness. We can HAVE life. Why are we constantly told we have to work to pay for things that are inside of ourselves? Simple, if they keep us in a constant state of survival, we will be to anxious, stressed, and worried to give a damn about what they are doing!

so true. yes, the FEAR is what keeps us in this repeating pattern. nothing else. fear of change, fear of the unknown, fear that we may SUCCEED if we really apply oursleves, but then have to acknowledge personal responsibility for EVERYTHING. i've often wondered at that very thing. there is a big reason to keep people disempowered. then they won't wake up. there is a big reason to keep people constantly fed and bombarded with this whole tired scenario. then they can't imagine anything else. "like" this but "don't like" that. "do" this but "don't do" that. it's all the same. division. separation. incompleteness.
aaahhh...
i hear that, brother. i'm on board. not going to argue "right and wrong" and other trivialities here anymore. or what is "real" or not. i'm for change. it's unavoidable. thank you for your candor and courage in attempting to crack a few nuts and open a few minds! :)
I am sympathetic to this ideal that you seem to be espousing, Stacy, that everything we need on the basic survival level should be free. And there is a lot of evidence to suggest that your premise that this reality matrix is purposefully set up to harvest our energy and keep us stressed out is actually true.
The problem arises when you start getting the expectation that your should be this way or that, and that everything would be peachy if only....(fill in the blank). I think your prospects for taking responsibility for your happiness are made much better by accepting that life is inherently difficult, and it is somewhat paradoxical that when you gain this level of acceptance, life (or should I say more precisely your "life situation," cf. Tolle) becomes much less difficult.
Since I brought up Eckhart Tolle, I might add that his counsel to distinguish between your "life situation" (what you call "survival mode" stuff, + the quality of your relationships which exists in the past and future) and your "life" (your eternal essence embodied which only exists in the present moment) goes a long way in getting a greater skill set in navigating life's challenges. I like to think of these two planes of my life as two chessboards, and usually when I get into a funk about my job or whatever, it is because I haven't put more attention into the other gameboard of "life".
In a larger context of the collective unconscious, we can see that the old authoritarian systems of control, this reality Matrix as I like to call it, is looking like it is about ready to collapse. This is probably why you are having these discussions with your co-worker, and are reflecting and imagining how things could be different. Everything in this reality starts as a thought, and many other people are having similar discussions around the world, I can assure you. You can find evidence to support this premise by just hunting around on what is going on in Venezuela, Thailand, Ukraine, etc.
You are too young to remember, Stacy, but in 1989 there weren't many people who thought the Soviet Union was going to collapse. When the Berlin Wall came down, with the people dismantling it brick by brick, it illustrated how quickly mass consciousness, in alignment with truth and Natural Law (primacy of unconditional love over fear), can change a decades-long evil at the speed of light.
The totalitarian oppressions of the present-day will be eradicated by a unified mass consciousness in alignment with Natural Law. It has always been so historically, and I doubt that will ever change. So hang in there, and keep having those discussions. Imagine and visualize a peaceful planet, where everyone does work that they actually feel called to do on a spiritual level, and where your children can prosper unafraid. Birth is always painful, and I believe things are difficult now because this new world is being born.
Exactly they tell us to love and embrace each other but society CONSTANTLY highlights EVERY subtle difference between humans until the division is so strong we are fighting amongst ourselves. Prejudice and judgement is so crazy that we hate OURSELVES!
And then we are told we are free...I guess we are. We are free to pick which house to struggle to start over each month desperately trying to make the rent/mortage to. We are free to pick which (likely dead end) job to spend our days at, instead of with our family - teaching our own children, that BARELY pays the rent/mortage and food and basics for the family. We are free to choose between isles and isles of genetically modified, MSG ridden, food that was dretched in pesticides to "treat" us. We are free to pick between thousands of TV channels to pick our idea "PROGRAMMING". And so on...
The kind of freedom I craved, and the kind of freedom I am pretty sure we fought a war for, bares little resemblence to the freedom they claim we have today.
Greg,
Thank you for that. I am completely feeling what you are saying! I can tell you know what I mean and this goes without saying, but I do want to point out that I do not think anythign should be FREE, like handed to us. I just feel like they make it impossible to earn our own keep for ourselfs, you know what I mean. I am not against working for what I need, I just do not see the point in working ten times harder for what OTHERS need so they can GIVE ME what I NEED. you know??
I wish I could go completely off the grid. Find somewhere to build my own house, start my own garden, farm, whatever. Live off the land. I do not know how to do that stuff. Right now, at 23, I am completely dependant on this system I despise. Not as dependant as some, I go to work and make my own money, but I am not meeting my own needs. I am making money. Then expecting this worthless piece of paper to solve all my problems. Then from there after this magic papers solves my problems I can have peace and happiness, but there is NEVER enough of that damn magic paper! Now that I am realizing me and everyone else could have had peace and happiness all along if we where to busy hunting the damn paper, it just becomes senceless!
it's my plan to start a community/healing/retreat center somewhere... the conventional need not apply. some methods will be somewhat radical. like actually OPENING UP and sharing. pandora's box. but, don't focus too much on the survival aspect, because what's the point? perpetuation? many of our imagined scenarios are rife with conflict. depends how far you are willing to go to protect your piece. or if you can find a sustainable island somewhere and avoid inbreeding. the critical mass seems to be gaining speed exponentially as i check. or i am. not sure.
i believe even stranger and more wonderful things are on the agenda.
make sure you keep me updated on your plans! I might want to join you!!! lol
Check out this story, Stacy. This is why we have to get rid of government FIRST before we can truly be free.
Wow that is crazy! So basically if I could even learn to be fully self sufficient I would be in violation of all kinds of laws..smh..
They get what they want because everyone is playing their game brand names , credit cards, fancy cars , homes , and being a good consumer . Everybody is always focusing on what is wrong . It seems to me there are a lot of unhappy people Cheer up . Anyway I am grateful today was a beautiful day and I am well and I wish all of you the same . There are things we can do to change the way we operate, if people are willing to leave there comfort zones . There is a man in my town who goes out and waves and smiles at everyone driving around and I am grateful for him as well .
Love all<>ERic
Eric, People focus on what is wrong because so much of what's happening in the world is wrong. We can't solve a problem without first acknowledging that there is one.
It might make you feel better to see a happy man in town who smiles and waves at everyone, but it doesn't change the problem.
Not everyone is living hand-to-mouth because they are buying brand-name, fancy toys with credit cards. I think the point of Stacy's post is we shouldn't have to struggle so hard; there's something wrong here. Indeed there is... the system is rigged. The rich are getting richer because they're making everyone else poorer. That's how the system is designed.
It wasn't always like this. Before there were rulers taxing our labor and bankers charging usuary, people lived in harmony and abundance.
Sometimes the way forward is the way back.
Are you sure you're only 23? It took me twice as long to figure out what you already know!
One of the first steps in getting off the financial merry-go-round is to grow your own food. You can even start a garden in flower pots. If you have a yard, you can use every inch of it for growing food. Just be careful about the front yard. As Greg pointed out, some communities have been become oppressive about this. If the food czars get their way, home gardening will be illegal in all states.
My favorite food survivalist tact is aquaponics because you can do it indoors and it requires no soil and very little water. It's like hydroponics, only the nutrients that feed the vegetables come from fish (emulsion/poo) which live in a tank underneath the plants. There are tons of Youtube videos on the subject. There are even vids on making your own system out of pvc pipes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdvgiDUhJJA
This is just one suggestion. You may find something else that works better for you. Let me know how you're doing. Send me a PM on your progress.
No one has mentioned here the power of our own thoughts and I know I'm not the only one that recognizes the importance of that. Worry is a useless emotion, it accomplishes nothing. Sitting around conversing about what we want changed doesn't do it either. Change happens. We can create positives in our world or we can complain about how everyone else is creating sh*t and then sit around wallowing in it.
Drive your car less and you support big oil less. Grow your own and you feed your own. Think your life is in the proverbial sh*t and you will surely find yourself there. See and realize your own gifts, be a gift through your actions to others, think your needs into reality by seeing them done and acting toward that end, not seeing what they 'do' for you and let go of the idea that all of our riches revolve around the almighty dollar.
Good times come and good times go. Some days money is plentiful and some not. Plan for the days that are lean in the times that are not instead of spending every dime you have 'getting' what every body else has. So much of what we think we need is not what we need at all. So much of life is beautiful and doesn't cost a red cent.
On Peace-" it doesn't mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart." So if it's peace your looking for, don't look outside yourself. That isn't where you'll find or keep it. Be peace.
finally sorted that one out for us. the world may be messed up, from YOUR perspective, but are you at peace? it can't be forced on others, or you are just following that same path to the dark side. be the change.
I don't know who your comments are directed at, Christopher, but I'll address them as if they were meant for me.
How this conversation turned into a debate about perspectives is perplexing, when all Stacey did was state the obvious about what actually is. The danger of Silopsism is its denial of this reality.
It's not a debatable issue that the world is "messed up." You'd have to be living under a rock with your head in the sand not to know it. If it's not YOUR perspective to see anything negative in physical reality, perhaps it should be.
Am I at peace? Frequently, no. But is that the point? Is the goal to achieve personal meditative bliss in a war zone or is it to eliminate war for the benefit of all? The former is avoidance, my friend, while the latter is "being the change".
And yes I agree, Onesong is right. Our thoughts have power, and as she also says, so do our actions. It's not enough to live in a bubble of happy thoughts. The "path to the darkside" is unimpeded by our apathetic indifference to it. Calling a spade a spade is the first step in changing the system that enslaves us.
Until we can agree that problems do actually exist, which need viable solutions, change is impossible.

Thank you for the reminder to look at the good and not the bad! I am grateful for that, and for you!
NOA -
Thank you, that is exactly what I was trying to say! Its like sometimes, no matter how hard we struggle for our share of the pie, all that is left is crumbs! And yup, only 23...doesnt feel like it though kids and being stupid responsible makes me feel very old. lol.
I have been wanting to learn to garden! I would like to get some non-GMO seeds and start growing food, our neighborhood is just SO BAD! I had gotten my son a baby chicken and kept it outside, SOMEONE STOLE OUR CHICKEN! lol, who does that?? I am just afraid the drug addicts will steal it or destroy it. So aquaponics sounds IDEA, unless, do you think it is expensive to set up? I just do not have a green thumb at all, I have ALOT of learning to do, like I know NOTHING! Maybe you can help me with this endeavor?
ONE SONG -
You are right, our thoughts definately play a huge role in the scheme of things! I posted the Dr. Emotto's rice experiment because that played a big part in my realization of this. My kids are so young (1yr &3 yrs) that it is really easy to see this miracle. After I found out about this experiment it made me realize that when I focus on my toodlers inappropriate behaviors I see more of them, but when I focus and talk about how good of kids they are the innappropriate behaviors show up less and less. You are so right thank you for your very inspirational post!
Starmonkey
Am I at peace? I am working on it. I am realizing it is a choice and learning to make the choice. Like the quote one song gave, I am learning to find peace and happiness in the mist of chaos, I am getting there! So much further then I was before. Am I there yet, no. Can I decide to be, I suppose. But like I said, I am working on it!
so, you've called it. now, what do you propose we DO about it? i'm not afraid of confrontation and i'm not avoiding CHANGE. so, we've identified the problems, now what? you want to go hang some people? you want to burn washington, d.c. to the ground? you want to jettison all of the politicians we deem bad or evil into space? what about their families? them too? will this solve the world's problems? what about that ten-year-old boy with the ak-47 slung over his shoulder who already believes that same perspective on the world? kill him too? once we get started, it's every man for himself or side with this guy cause you just might make it out alive and, eventually, nobody's left. because that person that just cut in front of me while driving is so INFURIATING that i instantly wish they were dead and gone and no longer bothering me. but later, when i've cooled down a bit, or run into them in the grocery store and see that they are just another person with their own problems and seemingly insurmountable odds of life stacked against them, i realize that what they need may be my help and not my anger. and even george w bush or tony blair were little boys once, playing with toys without a care in the world before "the reality" hit home.
I like your post Todd. And your right. But DAMN, you on one today, huh? lol lol
Again, Starmonkey, I'm assuming your words are meant for me.
In a nutshell, at the present time, my solution of choice is noncompliance - withdrawing my participation from the system as much as possible. I have a long way to go with this. One person alone can do little to stop the world domination machine. That is why I also post legitimate "conspiracies" to awaken people to the truth of what is happening and to encourage people to be part of the solution. You may not agree with my method, but as a writer, it's one of my best personal contributions to the world.
There is more than one way to skin a cat. Unlike some people who espouse spiritual platitudes from a limited knowledge base, I do not pretend to know all the answers. I am continually expanding my awareness, keeping my perspectives open to new, intelligent contributions from other truthseekers.
When we use absolutes like "everyone, always, never", etc. our words become fallacy. The attitude conveyed is close-minded and dismissive in its authoritarianism. This is what you do here, Starmonkey. You're entitled to your opinion, but your words would be a lot more palatable if they weren't presented as absolute truths and condemnations of those who differ in opinion.
Each of us journeys through this life on an individual path. There will necessarily be people ahead of us on this journey as well as behind. As truthseekers, we'd do well to recognize that each point along the way is valid. (I reserve one acception to that last line, but I'll save it for another time.)
Please click on the aquaponics link above for detailed instructions for building your own system for cheap. Also many more vids on Youtube as well as entire websites devoted to the subject.
Good luck!
okay, I am restricted by "blocks" in my work computer at the moment lol. But I will be sure to look into it! THANK YOU!
Thoughts yes !!
Love all <> Eric
I didn't comment on this post,,,so,,,,not sure if you got the name wrong,,,or,,,the post,,,haha! Oh,,by the way,,there are some groups of hydroponic growers who network online. I stumbled on it a couple of years ago and didn't save the link. Basically there were people from many countries,,,sharing tricks they had learned....I
