Let's talk about Reiki

Reiki seems to have a good reputation and following but I would describe my experience at best as very subtle in the physical dimension. It's difficult to sing the praises of Reiki when I have no personal experiential evidence of it having any effect at all, either on myself or others.

As part of my early efforts to become 'more spiritual' I undertook Reiki 'trainings' and workshops, having 3 attunements up to master practitioner level over around 18 months.

The Reiki precepts resonated with me immediately, but I have come to the conclusion that Reiki is nothing other than Universal Life Force Energy that we all naturally have access to if we choose to open to it. The hand positions and even the symbols are mere ritual to help the student to focus, but the main power is that of intention. This is perhaps not a welcome concept for those who are promoting and selling the mystique of Reiki!

It's obviously difficult for me to comment on the intangible benefits that Reiki confers on me (and others), and I don't doubt that some of us do perceive very noticeable'healings', but I like to believe that my intending and channelling Reiki has a beneficial effect.

What are your thoughts?

I sort of agree with you. Cranial-sacral seems to do more with light touch. And then there's chakras...
Acupuncture powerful as well.
Most people hold on to their dis-ease and dis-function. Ultimately, it comes down to the individual to heal or allow healing.
Masaru Emoto's work with water...
Our HTSI we live in, once transcended shows our assumptions of time and space to be relative. So placement, distance, past, future ALL not so relevant. Crazy to think some of our "past" lives might actually be in the future! Or things we do today effecting the past! You can ACTUALLY heal and "change" things in the past or future...
Forgiveness. Freedom.

Oh, and ancient wisdom practiced with light and sound. Those rods in Egypt they would set against the vertebrae at the back of your neck and vibrate it, tuning your spine and discharging energy.
Other temples and cathedrals resonate at certain frequencies. Possibly creating electrical power as well...
Toning... With voice or instruments.
Or to leave your body...

Jane Roberts' Education of Oversoul Seven series does a great job putting the correlation of past, present and future in context and the idea that nothing is fixed. It's a very clever and accessible format for presenting Seth's philosophy and principles against the backdrop of a number of different personalities. The third book in the series - museum of time - I found a bit more dense and heavier going but still good stuff. I still use Seth as a bench mark when coming across new ideas and concepts - old habits die hard for sure!

I read Seth Speaks. Was decent. Definitely a few parts I went over more than once. Beings limited by belief systems and flexibility of mind of the channels...
Always frustrated me in reading all those similar books or threads I mentioned earlier. The limitations of the questioners...
But yes, they all seem to correlate. Trying to get us to expand and engage! Unlimit the Self!
It's all about intention and alignment. Identification...

And the limitations placed upon whatever beings, having to use WORDS, especially if they've never been human.
And our HTSI (human time space illusion) and having to respond within that framework.
That's why I'm going to drop down and explore for myself. We've come a long way, baby!
But thanks to all those who have come before and have yet to come. Good luck to y'all in the 3D scenario!
;)

I found Seth Speaks to be one of the best books out there for explaining really big picture, meaning of life type stuff. I also read the Education of Oversoul Seven series and found it to be quite intriguing and well written. There is so much great material available to those who open to it. Enjoy!

Getting back to where we started, Fred, what's your experience of Reiki?

fredburks's picture

I absolutely love energy work in all its forms. I haven't studied Reiki and have only received a few Reiki sessions that weren't very notable for me. I tend to not be so interested in the codified forms of energy work like Reiki, yet I know it really works for a lot of people and fully support that. My own understanding of such things for both practitioners and those receiving is that the more you trust and believe in it, the more it works. I personally love to play with energy, but in a much more free from way. And how are your travels going?

We've got a property in France so after the ferry and a day's driving we generally don't do much traveling. I loved the place right from the start although my husband's still ambivalent. It's been the friction point for a lot of life lessons.
After a lot of frustrating searching the property literally fell in our laps - although we almost dismissed it as being well over our budget.
Truly blessed - and Suzie (our furry friend) loves it too - we know she's settled when she starts squirming on her back on the grass in the morning dew!

Sounds beautiful, Julie! Enjoy your time there.
