Eagles

I know I posted it here somewhere last year, but the Berry College Eagle Cam now has two eaglets         (? is that the correct term?) - babies are about 6 weeks old, born around Valentine's day and rapidly changing.  This is a great place to watch nature in action and a great place to foster a beginning understanding of wildlife and survival to children.

I tried to check them out this afternoon, but I couldn't get either cam to come on, so I bookmarked it and will try again. The last time I did this the baby didn't make it to it's first flightFrown

There are a couple different livestreams of eagles, but the best one I've found to watch is the site via Berry College in Georgia.  They have three cams which also include night vision.  If the website I posted doesn't bring them up, just search Berry College Eagle cam...unless there are bad storms that knock them out, it's an excellent feed. (actually last night, we did have problems viewing from Michigan as well).  Sometimes they aren't doing much, but around our suppertime (around 6 EST) their usually kind of active and right now, at 5-6 weeks old they're already getting very large and its a real hoot to get to watch them feed.  Mama and Papa eagle work their butts off to keep the babes in food.  There's even great pictures of one of last years fledglings come back this year to harass the babies and the dad in flight chasing him off.  We've had great fun watching and learning from this site!

From the college website-Berry College’s bald eagle couple first appeared on the main campus in the spring of 2012. Since that time, they have continued to nest in the top of a tall pine tree situated between the main entrance and the parking lot of the Steven J. Cage Athletic and Recreation Center. They successfully produced two eaglets (B1 and B2) in early 2013 and one eaglet (B3) in early 2014 and two eaglets (B4 and B5) in 2015. All of these eaglets successfully fledged. -
