Robert Naiman: We, the 99 Percent, Demand the End of the Wars Now
One of the developments that’s occurring out of the Occupy Together movement is the formation of a way of thinking about and a language in which to address events. So here we have “the 99%” demanding an end to war. The collective is beginning to develop a way in which to frame and deliver demands. Just that development alone will focus energy, draw allies to us, and force the remaining cabalists onto the defencive.

After ten years of war, now is a perfect time to act to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Friends Committee on National Legislation has set up a toll-free number for us to call Congress:
1-877-429-0678. A Congressional “supercommittee” is charged with coming up with $1.5 trillion in reduced debt over ten years, and the wars and the bloated Pentagon budget dangle before the supercommittee like overripe fruit.
A recent CBS poll shows how far out of step with the 99 percent the Pentagon’s plans are. Sixty-two percent want US troops out within two years.
But the Pentagon wants to stay for at least 13 more years.
totally unacceptable.” More protests and more phone calls will get more members of Congress talking like that.
A key lesson from Iraq for Afghanistan is this: we can force the Pentagon to eat a timetable for military withdrawal, and once we’ve forced them to eat it, we have the ability to force them to keep it down.
Already in May, 204 members of the House – including all but eight Democrats and 26 Republicans – voted to require the president to establish a timetable for withdrawal. We just need to switch six members from that vote from no to yes to get a majority in the House for a timetable for withdrawal.
And, now, the Congress has an added incentive and opportunity to act to end the wars, because the supercommittee is considering the ten-year path of government spending. And Congress could eliminate many hundreds of billions of dollars in future government debt by ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Friday morning, hundreds of peace advocates marched from Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC, past the White House, to the office of drone manufacturer General Atomics, demanding an end to the wars and drone strikes. Who says the 99 percent don’t have concrete demands? What could be more concrete than ending the wars?
Here is a short video from the protest: “When drones fly, children die! Stop the wars now!”
How about ending the government's ability to pay for wars? That would happen with the elimination of the Fed. No money for war, no war.
This would be a council. Most Galactics (the Light-Love Galactics that is) elect a governing council with representatives from every section of the planet. This is called a Planetary Council. Then the Council recommends a Chief Councilor-- this is a leadership position. Not all individuals are cut out for the rigors of leading a Planetary Council. The recomendation then is put to a planet wide vote-- with coherence building and consensus building--- and much discussion-- the Chief Councilor is either approved or not. If not approved-- the decision is discussed and a consensus as to why is reached. Then a new council member is then recommended. Although, usually, the Galactics that I communicated with-- communicated that the Planetary Council consists of such pure souls that they know the best person for each job and usually the planetary citizens (this includes all sentient beings-- not just the humanoid ones) agree with the recommendations of the Planetary Council.
This type of job is considered to be an honored calling. One is called to Serve Others in this capacity. As vibration rises-- one is called to Service that is in alignement with the passions and gifts of the soul. There is no longer any need to do "work" that is not in alignment with the individuals calling and gifts.
It is a way of life that is lived by way and through the heart and wisdom of the soul in an interface through embodiment.

In The Awful Truth, Michael Moore tries to get a ficus plant on the election ballot as a candidate for Congress. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqa_bhwA-1E This was after he discovered that the New Jersey application only asks your age and residency, not whether or not you are human.
Anyway, I keep coming back to the idea that if we can't trust one single person to honestly represent us as President of the United States, can we elect a group? Similar to an elder council. I don't know what the requirements are, but I'd wager that if we had a small group running (even as a write-in candidate), they might get more votes than the Republicrats they're campaigning against. People are fed up choosing the lesser of two evils, only to discover they've voted in another prick again.
Crazy idea or change we can believe in?
Isn't that pretty much what we have now in Congress? Anyway you look at it - a "council" is a ruling elite with power to make decisions that might negatively effect millions - or in the case of a "Galactic" council - maybe trillions.
I think it's time to transcend that paradaigm. The ET's and their councils are NOT a model for us - they are steeped in polarity consciousness and well poutside the paramaters of our game here. To follow their ideas is a step in the wrong direction in my opinion - we need something completely NEW!
Gets back to the fallacy of the saviorship model. If there were to be a successful benign non-despotic true service to others form of "Council" that really works to further our planetary evolution it would seemingly have to include a very actively engaged and Self-responsible citizenship.
Anything less and we collectively end up out of balance again. This is never the fault of the ruling class as much as it is the fault of the citizenship that passively allows it to happen while romantically longing for a savior to rescue them from that which they the collective took an active part in... We really have to stop saying there are entities, powers and principalities that dominate us. Such confessions project our own inherent Divinity and Eternal Sacred Power outward away from us and onto figures of our imagination. We, the collective commonwealth "We" will continue to do this until "We" don't want to anymore... Always makes me think of that so provocative statement in A Course in Miracles (and a few other sources), "there is only one of us here"...

It's true that Congress is self-serving and corrupt. They are bought and paid for by the wealthy few and they possess so much wealth themselves, that they can hardly imagine what life is like for the common man/woman. Congress and other forms of government operating today are not peer councils. They have too much power, they are isolated from those they represent, and their decisions affect too many people's lives.
Indigenous people have used councils successfully for centuries. Members come from amongst the common people. As such, they are councils representative of their peers.
The successful model for human society in the future, I believe, is the opposite of central government. It would consist of smaller self-governing groups. These villages or tribes would elect a community peer council to help make decisions benefiting the people who live within that geographical group.
Such councils have all but been snuffed out by governments, but here's one modern day example of one council that is working quite well: http://emu.edu/now/peacebuilder/2011/08/restorative-councils-help-pakistani-police/
The best leaders are the most reluctant of leaders--- meaning it is service to others to lead--- not a perk. I know naught of that which you speak of Knightspirit. I only know of what I have witnessed and experienced.
I bless you with Love.
