She let the cat out of the bag.

Listen carefully around the 4:40 mark and you have the main real reason we went to war in Iaq.

Is that what you are referring to Kevin, "9th largest purchaser of military equipment in the world"?

Condi said that Iraq is the "9th largest purchaser of AMERICAN military equipment in the world."  That's the cat let out of the bag.

I don't understand how this is evidence as "the main real reason we went to war in Iraq," Kevin.  Are you saying that the main purpose was to sell arms?  Please explain.

The big reason for all wars is to sell arms. Remember Eisenhower's warning about the military industrial complex? The MIC and the Bankers make money off of both sides in any war.

True, Kevin, but the Pentagon has a pattern of targeting countries that have natural resources or other strategic assets they want to control like oil, gold, political power, etc.  The reasons for war can be quite multi-layered in its complexity.

America doesn't need to wage war to sell arms.  Plenty of countries are engaged in their own "peace-time" arm's race.  All that is really necessary is to keep the level of fear high.

...I was just pointing out that a person in her position using that as a point of defense for the whole Iraq war deal is not something you would expect and gives us a real view into one of the primary motivations for war. We have spent plenty of time and blood in countries with no particular natural resources (excluding drugs) but those wars certainly benefitted the bankers and MIC. The really sad thing here is that large portions of those natural resources we were supposedly after are being snapped up by China while we are still fighting.
