That was beautiful John, thank you. It's so wonderful that the parents chose to really listen to their son and support him.

Good for Ryland for being so outspoken about who he is.  Too many children live unhappy lives, often ending in suicide, because they are forced into gender roles which don't match their true identities.

Many people are so sure that God made each of us 100% female or 100% male, leaving no room for any variation along the sexual continuum.  But did you know that without a precise infusion of testosterone around the 6th week of fetal development, we would all be female?  How easy would it be for the hormone cocktail to be slightly "off" and any number of gender combinations to occur?

I hope more people understand the complexities of this issue and become more tolerant of gender differences.

I love the turnaround of the parents and how it obviously brought great happiness to their child. Thanks for this.
