70 hours of celebration, that is how I heard it said by other Mayan sources.  I really love the idea of turning something potentially frightening into a celebration...

I have been explaining to my children if they get up from a night of sleep and it is still  night... no worries we will just snuggle and rest and be until it is day again.

If this happens we are prepared.  If this does not happen we are prepared.

I wonder if it has nothing to do with the position of the planet or the sun - but with US becoming somehow temporarily disabled - and literally physically blind from the change in magnetics. He kind of hinted at that. Otherwise - we are talking about what? Planet X blocking the sun for three days? Or the rotation of the earth stopping for three days (then what about the three days of sunlight on the other side?). I don't see physically how there COULD be three days of darkness - short of planet X maybe - which could be possible, but in that case there would be more than just darkness! 

Anyway - interesting to think about the possibility that it is just something about us that goes dark - and that would actually be more frightening to people than the sun not coming up for a few days - I mean we can always light a few candles or whatever in that case...
