Dirty Electricity

I knew something was fishy about this cfl craze.  I've always been adversely affected by flourescent lights - headaches, stinging eyes, etc. - and entered flourescently lit rooms under protest.  I've been thinking of buying one of these meters and some filters but they're really expensive.  So I wanted to ask you enlightened folks if you knew of any alternatives.

...I can't do you tube while I'm on the rig but I can share what I know about CFL. All CFLs are made in China. They contain mercury and require special disposal. Flourescent ligths, although you can't see it, actually strobe and strobe lights make you more susceptable to mind control. CFLs do not last 7 years as they claim and in my experience, not much longer than incandescent bulbs. A much more efficient and long lasting alternative is LEDs which are finally slowly making their way onto the market. While the government would like to mandate their use, I would be happy to see CFLs disappear. Oh yeah, they have been known to start fires when the ballast goes out!

I just use old fashioned incandescent bulbs and turn the lights off when I am not in the room.   My electric bill is very low if I turn off everything and use power strips to cut down on phantom energy use.

The mercury in the florescent bulbs was a tip off for me... that and they are considered to be hazardous waste.

LED is pretty good.  It is expensive though.

Thanks for the post, Francis.  I viewed the 1st video a few months ago, but seeing it the second time along with the 2nd video really drives it home.

Last year, stores in France stopped selling regular incandescent light bulbs.  Now, all you can buy is CFLs -- only they're much worse than the ones in the U.S.  Our CFLs have double membranes (the inner glass coil is enclosed in a round glass bulb), consequently, they are very, very dim.  I find myself turning on 3 lamps and get less light than I would from a single incandescent bulb.

The most "natural" and beneficial artificial light is Full Spectrum Lighting.  Read what USA TODAY

Home Depot may carry them or you can buy them online:  http://www.fullspectrumsolutions.com/full_spectrum_light_bulbs_30_ctg.htm  Check out their light therapy products!
