Thanks Berry, its so good to see an "old school" common sense compassionate gentlemen so eloquently framing the bill of rights for ALLLLLLLLLL.

I wanted to run up and hug him...

That was the core feeling....

THanks Big Brother and dear friend of mine....

Thanks Berry-

This is wonderful. I wish the government never got involved in the marriage licence business to begin with - can you imagine if you needed a licence to have a friend? I think it began with the idea that a husband owns his wife, which is why you also need a pet licence but not a friend licence. My son will soon be moving in with his gay partner, I am so glad that they will have the option to marry here in Massachusetts.

Oh Wendy, I am too.  It is so wonderful what Massachussets (sp) has done.  Ray, my lover/partner/lifemate for 31 years, and I would have loved to have had a real marriage.  We did have a Holy Union ceremony in the Metropolitan Community Church, which bound us before our Creator with the same vows of the legal marriage ceremony.  However, throughout our life, we had to pose as brothers in order to be able to move around the HIPPA laws with the hospitals and doctors.  We even had to do special legal agreements when we purchased our property and opened bank accounts.   Even so, he was never able to be covered under my insurance policy when he didn't have any, or I when I was out of work.

So yes, it is a big deal when gay partners can have the same benefits that straight parners partake of.  Society is still under the powerful propaganda of the Old Testament, Quran, and other out of date religious text which condemn love between same sex partners.  It is time for a change.

Hi Berry-

It's all such a crazy world we live in. I call Joe my husband but we are both formerly divorced so never saw the point of remarrying and never have. After living together for 18 years I suppose we have a common law marriage but Joe is such a libertarian, independent sort, he's never wanted health insurance or a bank account so we haven't felt very inconvenienced by not being married.

Joe and I are both more or less insulted by the state's claim that it should have some kind of say in who and/or how we associated with others so if we ever did get married at a church just for the fun of it, we would never apply for a licence.

Of course, I've always assumed that a hospital would just take my word for it that Joe is my husband. I think it's horrible that they wouldn't do the same for you and Ray. I hope we can soon have a society where we just see people as sacred souls, with no need to have our bodies be labeled as man, woman, white, black, gay, straight. Wouldn't that be great?

Wishing you well-

Wendy

Why does everyone think they know what is best for others? We are all part of the ONE...cant we just leave decisions each of us..My teacher for 40 years..Ram Dass has said.....Oneness is the source of love. Real love is the One celebrating itself as the two.         and he does NOT mention He or She....just a thought...Love you guys....
