Feel like going over a cliff?

I am really infuriated with politicians having engineered this fiscal emergency. Whatever you feel about the reasons for it or whether you agree it is a valid way to 'control spending' if they don't stop it the country is destined for a deep recession. As soon as the "cliff talk" really got under way the main new homes builder that has been keeping me in steady pay has almost completely halted all new homes. Hundreds are being thrown out of work by just this one company. I am now at the end of my rope.

I believe this is to create profound financial hardship and thus dismantle government. I think it's a hard core smouldering hatred for FDR's programs. It is in my opinion-insane. But mostly-it's heartless. My whole family is on the rocks because of the 2008 recession. Now what little hope we all had in the recovery is being ripped away by wealthy politicians who are immune to the pain they are inflicting. I am beginning to consider how such people must be stopped. Any options I'm not seeing?

I will check out the links Noa-thanks. I am pretty wound up as you can see in my posts

Your feelings are to be expected under the circumstances, Brian, and even this may be part of the plan.  The bailouts and endless QE tactics are just other labels for austerity measures against the working class.  The only ones being required to pay and suffer for the sins of the financial 'geniuses' are us.  And the more we give into despair, the more helpless we become.

This might only be a small bandaid in the grand scheme of things, but I would urge everyone to explore the option of barter/time banks/LETS.  Google it or check out this website:  http://www.community-exchange.org/ These clubs are worldwide and help people break free from the false paradigm of national currencies.  I've started a trading club in my town, but admittedly, educating the locals about its benefits is an uphill battle.

I recommend anything you can do to be independent and to keep your spirits up.  Growing your own food is another good tact - whether its in your own yard or organizing a community garden.  If you're so inclined, starting a support group for people in similar situations might also be empowering.

Hang in there.  Sooner or later, this crap has got to go!
