Then they started spying on the entire world from space.

Then they started influencing elections all over the world by how the search results were shown.

Then they infiltrated the White House.

I think they turned to the dark side long ago for money and power.

Whoever it was that said, 'Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.' was right.
